FAQ Information for students in Year 12
School will reopen the week beginning 15th June 2020, provided the government say it is safe to do so.
No! There will be many changes to school which are outlined here. These have been put in place by the government and school to help keep you, and everyone else as safe as possible.
Year 12 students will have a two hour lesson for each subject every two weeks. These sessions may be in school or may be online via MS Teams or Google Meet. More guidance for the online lessons will be sent separately.
You should walk or cycle to school each day if at all possible. The arrival times will take into account bus arrival times if this is the only way you can get to school. You need to ensure you follow all social distancing rules in place on the bus, it is compulsory to wear a face covering on public transport from 15 June.
Students will be arriving and departing school at staggered times in order to stop large groups of students together and minimise any potential spread of COVID-19. Year 10 students will also be in school from 15 June 2020, so it is important you arrive at your allocated time. For the days you are in school, you need to arrive for a 9.45am prompt start. You should not arrive before 9.30am.
All Year 12 lessons will take place in the Huts outside the Sixth Form block. You should enter school through the gates by the Caretaker’s house (by Sixth Form) and go straight to your classroom (please see your timetable).
You will not be able to arrive early, as there will be no open areas for you to wait. You need to ensure you arrive between 9.30am and 9.45am. You will also need to ensure you leave school as soon as your lessons are completed.
The galley will not be open at all. The Sixth Form kitchen and vending machine will also be unavailable. Any drink you want for your lesson you will need to bring with you. You will be leaving at 11.45am so you can eat when you get home!
Students should wear suitable clothing for school, as per the usual Sixth Form guidelines. Cropped tops should not be worn.
You need to bring all the equipment you need for your lessons. This includes, pens, pencils etc … You will not be able to share resources with other students during the day. Your teachers will let you know via Show My Homework if you need to bring anything such as textbooks etc. before the lesson.
No. All Year 12 lessons will be in the Huts outside the Sixth Form block. Your class will have a maximum of 10 people in it in order for you to be socially distanced.
You will have one of your normal class teachers for your lessons.
No. Many areas of the school have been deep cleaned and are out of bounds. You must only go in your classroom, or to the Sixth Form toilets.
If you feel ill with COVID-19 symptoms you should not come into school. If you become unwell during the school day you will be sent to first aid and possibly sent home.
Yes, there will be hand sanitiser available for you to regularly clean your hands.
Your class teacher will be the only member of staff you will have contact with during your time in school. If you require any further support, please contact myself or Beckie who are more than happy to help.
At all times, when travelling to and from and whilst at school you should be following the social distancing guidelines that have been set out across the country. This means that you should be at least 2 metres away from other people at all times. You should also make sure you are washing your hands frequently (or using hand sanitiser) this includes, before you leave home, when getting to school, before and after breaktime, and when you get home each day.
