Business Studies
Vision
The Business Education Department aims to create an environment that is dynamic in terms of its delivery of subject material, stimulating and create a practical awareness of events and issues within the global business. We embrace the use of real-life examples in engaging our students and ensuring they achieve their potential. Through the use of these examples, students will develop their own business sense and apply their knowledge to real scenarios. We ensure our Business Curriculum is current, engaging and balanced for all of our student’s needs. We aim to prepare students for the world of work, regardless of which industry they enter. Our department endeavour to tailor our studies to the ever changing local and national economy.
Year 10
Overview/core aims for the year:
In the first year of business, we want students to be able to gain a good understanding of how businesses are run, including an in-depth look at each aspect of business. Students will look into real life examples featuring existing businesses and apply their knowledge to these scenarios.

Year 11
Overview/core aims for the year:
In the final year of the course students build on the understanding they gained in the first year. Students will debate the ethical and financial concepts and apply them to real world scenarios.

Year 12
Overview/core aims for the year:
Students will analyse the relationships between business and customer whilst building on coverage of the foundations of business. Students will research a local businesses and apply their understanding.

- Understand the effect of different organisational structures on how businesses operate

Year 13
Overview/core aims for the year:
Students will venture into different areas or business, such as real life day to day tasks of a business. Students will organise a business event and conduct their own market research.
