Health and Social Care

Plymstock Health and Social Care

Health and Social Care is a popular option subject from Year 10 and into the Sixth Form.  In Year 10, as part of the OCR Cambridge National qualification, we cover two units:  Communication in Health and Social Care settings and Development through the Life Stages.  In Year 11, we go on to explore careers in the Health, Social Care and Children and Young People’s workforce, in addition to studying the Essential Values of Care where we look at a range of topics including Rights, Legislation, Care Values and Health and Safety.

Our Cambridge National and Cambridge Technical qualifications in Health and Social Care develop the essential knowledge and understanding for further study or careers in the Health and Social Care sector.  In the Sixth Form, they also give the opportunity to focus on a number of topics in depth, including Nutrition for Health, Anatomy and Physiology and Sexual Health and Reproduction.

The Health and Social Care department is based in a designated classroom which also houses 20 computer workstations allowing permanent access to computers as required
