Student Code of Conduct
- Enter classrooms in a quiet and orderly fashion, arriving punctually
- Stand when a member of staff or other adult enters the room.
- No drinking, eating or chewing is allowed during lessons.
- Remove outdoor coats in classrooms.
- Show respect for the teacher and other students; show self-discipline in the learning situation.
- Take responsibility for books and learning materials; respect others’ property and displays of work.
- Have regard for the safety and welfare of other students.
- Work to the best of your ability. Work deadlines should always be met.
- Maintain high standards of appearance and speech.
- Respect everyone as you come, go from and work within the school.
- Students should take care of the fabric of the school
- Drugs, cigarettes and alcohol are banned from the school.
- MP3 players and mobile phones etc… are not to be used during the school day.
Rewards
The following reward structure will provide the foundation of House competition and recognise student achievement:
House Points will be issued at the following levels.
1 point – Issued by Teacher or Tutor – e.g. exceptional piece of work, consistent effort over half term etc…
5 points – Issued by Head of Department – e.g. subject commendations, representing the school in Art, Drama, Dance, Sport, winners of department House competitions.
10 points – Issued by Head of House for 100% attendance and 100% punctuality at the end of each half term.
House points are recorded in the student planner and filled in accurately by the awarding member of staff. These will be monitored by Tutors who will bring a record sheet to their weekly House briefing.
On receiving these lists the Head of House will arrange for the updated House points to be collated and used towards the House competition. The House with the most House Points accumulated over each half term will be honoured with a ‘Mufti’ Day at the start of the following half term.
House points will be displayed at regular intervals in the school year and published in the School Newsletter, Student Bulletin and Assemblies.
The cut off date for rewarding and collation of House points over the academic year will be the annual Festival of Sport. After this date there will be the announcement of the winning House for the year. This House will be rewarded with a suitable prize for their efforts.
Sanctions (B System)
B1: Your behaviour is impacting on your own learning and the learning of others in class. Your teacher will work with you to help you improve.
B2: Formal Warning – Your repeated actions are now harming the learning environment and immediate improvement is needed.
B3: Parking within the department – You are not showing
improvement within class, despite a formal warning. To allow others in the classroom to learn you will now be isolated within the department for a fixed period of time. A single serious incident may result in immediate parking. You will be monitored on a department report card for five lessons on return to class.
B4: Lesson Isolation Unit – Your behaviour is now a major concern and is seriously damaging the learning of others in class. You will be removed from the department for a fixed period of time. You will be monitored on a department report card for five lessons on return to class.
B5: Internal Exclusion – You are now persistently failing to comply with school expectations. You will be removed from all lessons for a fixed period of time. A single serious incident may result in an immediate internal exclusion.
B6: Fixed Term Exclusion – This is the most serious sanction prior to permanent exclusion. This is only issued when a student repeatedly fails to meet the school’s expectations and is not responding to any of the previous sanctions. A very serious single incident may result in immediate fixed term exclusion.
