In order to support the significant number of students at Plymstock School who are members of service families we have developed a system of in-school support in conjunction with the HMS Heroes Group. The following information has been provided to Plymstock School students:
If you are you will be aware of the mix of pride and concern that is a part of everyday life when family members are away. You probably know that school routines are helpful when you are dealing with separation and worry. But there are days that are more challenging and now support is available in school for those tough days. We are now part of the city’s HMS Heroes Group (in this case the HMS stands for Her Majesty’s Schools) that aims to help students with service family links in schools. You do not need to join – if you have family members in the military services you are already a member.
There are several members of staff and older students who are part of service families who will work with our HMS Heroes Group.
We aim to help with the practical aspects of contact, including writing frames for ‘blueys’ and how to set up an account on the e-bluey system, as well as advertising local events run by the Forces Welfare Teams and offering mentoring and advice about how to manage those tough days. If this interests you or you have any suggestions please see Mrs Wilkins (based in HU7) or email her at email@example.com
